Ready-made data stories
14 of 20 UK water companies are under active legal improvement notices for PFAS (forever chemicals). For the first time, this data is available in consumer-searchable format by postcode.
Thames Water has 3 active lead-related improvement notices. Homes built before 1970 in London may still have lead supply pipes. Our data shows lead levels by zone across all 169 Thames Water supply zones.
London and the South East have water hardness levels up to 380 mg/l — among the highest in Europe. Hard water costs UK households an estimated £200–400/year in appliance damage and energy costs.
Water quality compliance reports are published by 21 separate water companies in different formats, none of them searchable by postcode until now. MyTapWater aggregated two years of reports into a single database.
